Good Idea-Bad Plastic

"This is a great product idea, but the hard plastic sheath started breaking where the lips of plastic on the top of the sheath are at the open end of the sheath. This happened within days. Now, after 3 months, the sheath is damaged so much as to be useless. The reader still works perfectly.
As a mechanical engineer, I’d say that the plastic is perhaps a styrene plastic, but it needs to be a polycarbonate or even polyethylene. A brittle plastic is a bad idea. Please change to a tough plastic like polycarbonate. If this is all that you have in your pocket, you are fine, but coins, Swiss Army Knife, tape measure or any other hard object, will damage it over time.
I got many “Oooohs and Ahs!” when I pull it out. They think I invented it. ;-) It is so tiny that I have trouble finding it in my pocket. I really love it, but it is no longer able to go in my pocket. I should have stopped carrying it before the sheath was destroyed.
BTW, I always put the reader in the sheath with the memory card & USB protected. Not as shown in the photo. I worry that it might fall out otherwise. So, the all metal “bottom” of the reader shows in the open slot, not the micro SD. Then the string makes it snug in the case and the USB connector is well protected, at the bottom of the sheath, from lint and physical damage.
Otherwise it is excellent and if your pockets are friendlier than mine, or you wear it around your neck or in your purse, it should last a long time. If worn around the neck, the method shown in the photo might be just fine. Just don’t sweat all over it. ;-)
The only reason for less than 5 stars everywhere was this plastic issue."

"I wanted a USB flash drive that wasn't going to bulge out of my pocket and it was this or the OCZ product. In this case, Kingston's device has the capability of swapping out microSD cards for unlimited storage. I've been using my Kingston microSD reader for months with a 2 GB microSD card - no problems whatsoever. Portable Apps for WIndows run fine as do file transfers back and forth from PC and Mac. What I would change: 1) Transfer speed: for a USB 2.0 device it's on the slow side; overall it's perfectly acceptable but could be faster 2) I'm concerned the string and/or connection point will break with continued use in/out of my pants pocket Overall I'm very pleased with this product and would buy one again."
