"product is very good but the retraction mechanism is delicate and can give way after prolonged usage
it would have been better if retraction mechanism(capless) is made more sturdy and reliable

"Out of all USB drives I have purchased in the past, this one is the best of the bunch. It still performed after an accidental washing. I even use this to play a game which i copied to it (GW - 3.6Gb)."

"I purchased the 16GB drive because it was inexpensive, well I got what I paid for. I've owned the drive for a day and I'm ready to get my money back for it. At times when I try to add files, the drive stops then disengages from the computer. I have to unplug, replug it in only to find out several of the files that were on the drive have disappeared.

When this happens, I try to delete folders, and I can not because they are in use, but not by my machine.

"Exceptional quality and value, this thumb drive was exactly what I was looking for. I love its speed and the fact that there is no removable "cap" to lose.

After many writes/rewrites this dandy drive has never let me down. I trust it for storage and transport of even my most precious data.

"I've used the DT100 4GB flash drive for over a year now and have never had a problem with it. I'm now looking forward to getting one with a bigger capacity as the files I work with get bigger and demand more space. I'm a photographer and using a 12-mp, full frame DSLR, I need all the space a bigger capacity drive, such as the Data Traveler can provide, I can get to back up photos and data."

Great Value-Use Convert to support large files. Date: December 19, 2008
"Just got the drive and it's a great value for the capacity. One thing though. I needed to copy a 6GB+ VMWare VMDK and Windows XP gave an error saying the disk is full.

Reformatted, tried copy...still the same error.

Luckily, googling gave me a clue. The stick is formatted as FAT32. Turns out that FAT32 can't support files larger than 4GB.

Since XP's gui format won't let you format removable media as NTFS, use the convert command from a command line.

C:\> convert <drive letter:> /FS:NTFS

After a few seconds your stick will now be formatted NTFS and you can now copy large files to it.

This will work for any media formatted at FAT32.

"I have two of the 8GB DataTraveler 100 and use them on a daily basis for both work and at home. I use both Windows XP and OpenSuse 11.0 as desktop environments and have had no problems swapping between the two and moving and using files within each system. Simple and efficient - just the way I like computing."

"I bought the 16GB flash drive online, and it just so happens that this is quite possibly the worst purchase I've ever dealt with.

I bought this to store music files, then to play them through my vehicle stereo. However the problem was, that when I began filling it with my files, it began saying my files were corrupted and eventually turned my files into some gibberish than not even my brother with a degree in computer sciences could figure out. Then as I tried to delete these files, they simply regenerated. I could NOT delete these files for some reason. So I say this is a terrible piece of equipment and no person should be subject to its awful craftsmanship.

"I looked at one of the other thumb drives and the price was $72 and I paid $42 for the 16 gig drive.

I was reading the review saying it was

" Reliable but thick and fragile Date: October 18, 2008

"It is a reliable USB stick. My complaints are:
- It is a little thick. Some computers won't fit two Datatravelers together.
- The case is a bit fragile. I drop it slightly and it split in to. I had to use a tape to keep it join."

I am glad that I did order it becuase the size is not an issue the case is only 5/16 of an Inch thick and when you figure the usb port itself is 3/16 of an inch I mean come on really how can it be huge.

As far as the case i tossed it against the wall ( about 10 inches ) and it if just fine.

I am very happy I got this drive.

"I got a this product for about $13 on a local store. I love the simplicity of a cap-less drive plus the color black. It's my 2nd purchase from Kingston and hands down for performance. Though I don't have in my package the key chain attachment which I should ask. For its overall rating, EXCELLENT!
Cheers!

"After losing my old one, I bought this one. I'm glad I did. Kingston's design protected my information when my child used the other one as a shovel and time capsule. It's got a spot of rust from the 8+ months of rain, but not one file was lost. I'm glad I can expect even this kind of reliability from Kingston products."
